I thought the previous posts of Black Gold Saw, Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master looked similar. In a good way, because apparently, the three cosplayers were shooting in the same studio! Absolutely breath-taking work!

It was an awesome August for this year!

Full of fun, excitement, thrill and what-not.

Hitsuzen VIP Kai as Ciel PhantomhiveI accompanied Kai in Davao in representing Bacolod for the SM Cyberzone Cosplay Tournament Finals. He cosplayed Ciel Phantomhive from the anime series Black Butler. He did an awesome job and I did saw a great improvement from him. I didn't regret to say YES when he asked me to come w/ him as his cosplay duo for the finals. We supposed tp have a short musical skit for his act, but little did we know that human props are not allowed (which we thought that it wouldn't be an issue since it wasn't disclosed on their general guidelines or EVEN in the waiver).

Anyways! It's fun to meet new people! new cosplayers! and new friends! We first met CDO cosplayer Lexter : Optimus Prime followed by the lovely ladies during Kai's rehearsals (Zhel, Yuki and Maki). Cool.

Congratulations to Optimus Prime! Oyeah! We weren't able to see him after the event,just in case you happen to read this, I do congratulate you for winning and for being so kind and friendly!

Yuki! you're such a great Suguinto! Maki, my co-PA, thanks for the companionship and photo tips! and ofcourse! Zhel! Thank you very much for showing us Davao's hospitable nature and also to your friends, Dennis, En, Ms. Joy (Ambox) and the rest of the guys, thanks for showing us around.

Mononoke: Kusuriuri 02

A wandering Medicine Seller, the Kusuriuri uses an enchanted sword to slay the “mononoke”, a type of ayakashi or unnatural spirits that linger in the human world. In order to successfully perform the exorcism, the Medicine Seller must find the Katachi (shape), Mokoto (truth), and the Kotowari (reasoning) of the mononoke. Once the sword is unsheathed, he transforms into a demon-like creature.

I’m guessing this is what the Medicine Seller looks like right before his transformation. Another impressive cosplay by Federkiel of Deviant Art! Thanks to *Des-Henkers-Braut, her photographer and Syaza for sending this in!

Soul Eater Maka Albarn Uncanny Sword and The Soul that Persisted

Uncanny Sword
Maka is seen with Soul, Shinigami, Stein, Death the Kid, Liz and Patti in the Death Room, welcoming Black Star and Tsubaki back from their successful mission against Masamune. Maka congratulates the two and is seen watching as Black Star attempts to use Tsubaki's new Uncanny Sword form, but fails as it is still too powerful for him.

The Soul that Persisted
Maka, witnessing Stein give Black Star a way to make his soul stronger in order for him to wield Tsubaki's Uncanny Sword form, tells Stein to give her training as well. She is told by Stein to find a way to make herself stronger in her own unique way like Black Star does. Afterward, she goes to visit Soul to remind him of the party being thrown for Black Star and Tsubaki's first soul as well as Soul coming out of the hospital. She shows signs of distress upon seeing Soul's scar that he obtained from protecting her, and continues to blame herself.
During the party, Maka senses Witches in Death City, which are Eruka and Mizune fighting against Medusa. Maka reaches the spot at the same time Dr. Stein did and both see Medusa, who is disguised as the school's nurse. After the three talk about the possible culprit, Soul appears, worried about Maka since she just ran off. The worried Soul makes Maka realize that she must accept what had happened to Soul and work hard not to get him hurt again. Maka then places her hand on Soul's chest, much to his surprise, and tells Stein she has found a way to make her soul stronger.

New Japanese Craze Hits America . . .

I was walking in a mall in Frederick,MD and saw a sign on a Hallmark Store. It read "NEW Japanese Erasers For Sale". Now I had to check it out to see what was up.

They had boxes and shelves full of them. They had animals and vehicles, all in different colors and shapes. My son ended up getting a Blue Dolphin. The lady behind the counter told us they were fun to collect because the animal heads would come off so we could mix and match them - what a demented mind she had! I didn't think much of it until we went to a A.C.Moore (an arts & craft store) and found them there as well - it was an invasion!

Since they are made in Japan, they got the name "Japanese Erasers". I have only really seen these in specialty shops, but was quite surprised to see these in main stream shops. They have been around for a while and now seem to be a new trend here I suppose. They are reported to be quite safe and kids love to collect them. I think my son paid $1.29 for his.

I forgot to take a damn picture of these, so here are some shots I found over at Iwako USA some of the items.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES: Metis

Episode Aegis, which is also known as The Answer in English version, is an epilogue only available in one difficulty setting. While in the Answer cancels Aigis’ Orgia Mode, Metis serves as her replacement; from being able to use a wide range of physical skills to gaining access to a “Neo” Orgia Mode. She is also able to use bludgeon-class weapons similar to that of the deceased Aragaki Shinjiro.

Metis is symbolized with a wreath of red butterflies, and is fiercely protective of her “sister”, Aigis.

HeartCatch PreCure!: Cure Marine

People would think that after all these years of writing for this cosplay blog that I would know a lot about different characters from anime, manga and games.

Well, you’d be wrong, because I get surprises like this in my inbox quite often!

To be completely honest, the first character that came to mind when I saw this was Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon… a stylized version of her anyway! But I’m pretty sure this is not the case.

You guys know the drill, comment and discuss who she could be in the comments, but I hope you guys can leave your name next time so that I can credit you properly if you guess right! So many anonymous comments… I wonder if it’s because they don’t want people to know that they’re reading Cosplay Holic? In any case, thanks to Paton Saint for sending this in!

Gyakuten Saiban 4: Naruhodo Minuki

Daughter of Arumajiki Zakku and Yumi (Zak and Thalassa Gramarye), Minuki (Trucy Wright) possesses the power of perception like her mother and grandfather, Arumajiki Tensai (Magnifi Gramarye). In Zakku's disappearance, Ryuichi (Phoenix) decided to adopt Minuki as his own daughter which she accepted without hesitation. She adores magic and her favorite trick is Mr. Hat, a puppet that pops out from behind her and wears her hat. She and Odoroki Hosuke (Apollo Justice) are half siblings, though neither are aware of this fact.

This is a pretty cool cosplay of Minuki with a Mr. Hat to boot! I’m not even sure how she managed to carry that puppet beside her… Thanks again to Ophelia for sending this in!

Fall 2010 Anime Lineup from Japan

I usually don't do these type of posts as everyone does them, but what the hell.

The Fall 2010 Anime lineup is out in Japan. I really wish we had something this cool in the US and not the normal re-runs of TMNT. The only cool shows on Saturday are Bakugan and Beyblade right now that my son is all into as well.

I guess I will start of with my Have To Watch list for this season.

Hyakka Ryouran / Samurai Girls ~ I want to watch this as I have hear some good stuff about it. It also seems to be a game that has been noted to be similar to Queen's Blade, but a different as well. I am actually doing some research on this and hope to have a couple posts about it soon. The figures are also quite nice and may have to make an investment.

Soro no Otoshimono ~ This is a must as I watched the first season and still can't get the "Flying Pantsu" out of my head - LMFAO!

Super Robot Taisen - The Inspector ~ I actually missed the first season and will need to catchup. I love Mecha, so this makes it a esay pick for me.

My Son's list: 
Pokemon - Best Wishes ~ he loves Pokemon and I will have to get the link setup on his laptop.

Star Driver Radiant Takuto ~ Looks interesting and love the Mecha design in this.

Bakuman ~ I have been reading the Manga and seems like a cool pairing with Moritaka and  Akito. Plus the love interest keep it moving.

Battle Spirits ~Just because it is another card game where stuff comes alive.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days: Roxas

In the prequel Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Roxas is a member of Organization XIII. He does not have memories of his previous life, but easily makes friends with Axel, the one in charge of watching over him. He also befriended Xion before falling into a month-long coma as a result of Naminé’s restoration of Sora's memory. It was only when Roxas awoke that he began to question the Organization’s motives.

Soul Eater Maka Albarn Part in the Story-Seiken

Maka is next to Soul when he wakes up from a terrible dream, and tries to comfort him. Later on, Maka asks if she can do anything for Soul; Soul replies with a no. Maka is noticeably saddened by this. Soul tries to cheer her up by saying it is his fault that he is in this condition. This only saddens her more as he makes her leave. Outside of Soul's room, Maka's father asks her to come up to the roof with him.
Up on the roof, Spirit tries to cheer up Maka, which proves fruitless. Maka asks Spirit what he thinks of her mother. When Spirit replies that he loves her, Maka asks why he cheated on her all the time. Spirit tries to run away by asking her if she wants to head back. Maka says they just got there.
Later on, Maka asks Spirit about the Kishin. He then explains the origins of the first one, Asura.
After Black Star and Kid's meeting with Excalibur, Maka, along with Soul who had recovered, shows them a large bouquet of flowers Excalibur had left for them in their classroom, and a message to them that he will be waiting for them.

X/1999: Kishu Arashi

A fondling child raised by Shinto priests at Ise Shrine, Arashi’s mother, a priestess of the same shrine, abandoned her after learning of her child’s destiny. She is called the “Hidden Priestess of Ise” and became the Dragon of Heaven most immediately in touch with Princess Hinoto. She specializes in sword fighting and can summon a massive sword emerging from her left hand.

Lenalee, who went insane when she was separated from her brother, Komui, fights for him and her friends, knowing she has a home to return to. Her perception of the “world” consists of her friends and family and whenever someone she cares for dies, she deems that a part of her world has also been destroyed.

Lenalee has known Kanda Yu since childhood, and often ran to him for comfort whenever her brother was busy. She met Allen Walker when he first arrived at the Order and became attached to him, hinting that she may have feelings for Allen.

Beautiful cosplay! Although some people may argue she has the wrong colored hair, I think that’s a minor setback. Thanks to Vicky for sending this in!

Soul Eater Maka Albarn Part in the Story-Demon Sword Ragnarok

Maka and Soul go on a mission in Italy. After a run-in with the Materazzi, the two successfully defeat and acquire the soul of Sonson J. After a brief conversation with Soul, Maka detects an unusual soul within a church and decides to investigate, believing it to be another Meister and Weapon. She detects the souls of the Materazzi, but to her shock, all of their souls disappear in an instant, as if they have been devoured. The two ride to the church on Soul's motorbike, and enter the building.
The two do encounter a Meister and Weapon: Crona and his/her Weapon partner that shares a symbiotic relationship with him/her, Ragnarok. It is revealed that they had killed all the people present, and they then proceed to attack Maka and Soul. Maka and Soul put up a good fight but are overpowered due to the abilities of Crona's Black Blood. Maka worries about Soul as she realizes that Crona can hurt him, even in Weapon form. However, Soul tells her to keep using him, as he is prepared to die for his Meister. However, Maka is cornered, and is reluctant to use Soul to block one of Crona's blows. Soul transforms into human form and shields her from the blow, acquiring a large scar across his chest. Maka, deeply upset over Soul's sacrifice, refuses to leave him behind as he tells her to escape before losing consciousness. However, the two are saved by Spirit and Stein. Stein assures that he will do what he can to save Soul before fighting Crona and Ragnarok. Maka watches the two battle and eventually they are successful in defeating Crona and Ragnarok, but the sudden appearance of a Witch, Medusa, allows Crona to escape.
Maka, deeply worried about Soul, waits for Stein to finish operating on him outside the dispensary back at Shibusen. When Stein allows her to see him, she tearfully stands at his bedside, promising Soul to become stronger in order to not let him get hurt again. Black Star and Tsubaki then enter to comfort her. Black Star tries to wake Soul up (rather violently), prompting Maka to give him a Maka Chop. They are soon also met by Medusa (who is disguised as the school nurse) with Spirit who tries to flirt with her (Maka also gives him a Maka Chop). Medusa cheers Maka up by telling her that she will definitely become stronger. Unbeknownst to Maka, Soul's bloodstream is invaded by Black Blood during the fight against Crona and Ragnarok.

Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear cosplay final shoots

After posting a progress shoots of Sol Badguy cosplay costume few days ago. I finally have the chance to put final shoots of it here.

Many minor changes, add up and final touch added to finishing this costume.

About the game, Shadow Hearts
Shadow Hearts is a console role-playing game developed by Sacnoth and published by Aruze Corp in Japan and in the United States and Europe by Midway in 2001. It is the first official game in the Shadow Hearts series and Koudelka is its prequel. Shadow Hearts follows the adventures of Yuri Hyuga, a Harmonixer guided by a mysterious voice in his head. He finds himself thrown into the conflicts prior to World War I where he must save the woman he loves and the world from destruction.

It was released in North America only one week before Square Enix's Final Fantasy X, and was not helped by Midway's nominal marketing campaign, Shadow Hearts initially struggled to gain the attention of gamers. The use of 2D pre-rendered backgrounds rather than a full 3D environment drew criticism as well. The game was praised for its original battle system


About the Allice Elliot
Alice Elliot (Alice Eliot , born in 1892 to Father Morris Elliot, an English Priest, was raised in London, England. Hearing supernatural voices in her early childhood, Alice later became an exorcist and together with her father they performed exorcisms.When Alice was saved by Yuri, she was unsure what to think of him. But after spending more time with him and seeing him risk his own life to defeat Dehuai, she grew attached to him. After Yuri attempted to fuse with Seraphic Radiance, Alice chose to use her own soul to save him.[21] In battle, Alice has the ability to do White Magic allowing her to heal party members and damage enemies.[27] Alice is the best healer in the game, and books are her primary weapons.


About the cosplay
We first receive the order about first quarter of 2010, not many references available regarding Alice Elliot cosplay, but luckily the costume itself is not to hard and complex to make. Accessories also are quite easy to find like this button below.

The most difficult thing about this cosplay to copy might be the cross accessories on her neck. We have redesign in paper first and making it using embroidery process.

A Transformer that was really a Robotech (Jetfire)

I took pictures of this a while ago and now just got around to get some of them posted. I will start off in Fighter Mode, then to Gerwalker Mode and finally Battroid Mode.

Preview of the 3 Modes

I actually got this off a toy shelf at a store called Best when it first hit. I actually got one at a cheaper price because they marked it wrong. If I remember correctly, it was $17.99 USD. I was with my mom and had begun opening the box after I got it while she was shopping. This is the only Transformer I have kept as I sold my collection years ago. I could not part with this for any reason!

I loved all the extras you could add to the figure at the time. At the time, I had no idea of its link to Robotech / Macross. I even kept the instructions, collector card with specs and the red plastic decoder sheet.

As it is from 1984, it has some little condition issues even with me keeping it out of the sunlight and stuff. There is the infamous "yellowing" of some of the parts. The hands do ahve some issues getting in and out from the forearm. The only other issue is the front wheels sometimes are not very stable and drop the nose (poor spring).

As for the reason this is so sought after was the fact it was actually made by BanDai and not Hasbro/Mattel. You can see in the picture below it was copyright by Bandai in 1984, Made in Japan & has the Bandai logo - YEAH!

What happening to my Fighter Jet Mode -
what is it doing???

This is the little used Mode called Gerwalker. It is the mode between Fighter and Battloid. It has some limited flight and is primarily for Ground Based assualts (GearHead Wiki).

Now for the final configuration, Battloid Mode. This is how I have him currently in my showcase and have told my son that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can he play with him!

I still have no ideas why some parts turned yellowish while others remained their whitest white.
