First Dedicated Japanese Theater in the US

I am hating where I am living soooooo much right now. I mentioned that in a previous blog that 20th Century Boys was being released in the States the same time as in Japan. I did not know that it was going to be in a new Theater being setup in Japantown in San Francisco, CA.

It is a joint venture by Viz Pictures and J-Pop Center. This is a multi-level - 20,000 sq ft - 3 story J-Pop cultural center like no other in the US.

B (Basement): VIZ Cinema (showing Japanese Movies and Anime)
1F (1st Floor): Cafe
M (Mezzanine?): New People The Store
2F (2nd Floor): Four different clothing designers
3F (3rd floor): Superfrog Gallery

Here is a link to the PDF of the centers layout with more descriptions: Store Layout

"VIZ Cinema will schedule a dynamic range of programming based on a new theme each month across a variety of genres. Individual films will change weekly to bi-weekly. The theme for August is "MANGA ATTACK!" and will screen live-action and animated (anime) feature movies based on manga (Japanese comics)."

GRAND OPENING Aug 18th

I really hope to be able to get out to the West Coast and see this amazing setup. If you get the chance to visit, please let me know what you thought of it.
