Fantasy Quest Cosplay Event Report

Last July 23, 2011, Cosplay Network Philippines in cooperation with Anime Alliance, Ormagn Eventures and Fernbrook Gardens, hold a cosplay event at Fernbrook Gardens titled as Fantasy Quest-Be there when it happens.

The event was filled with photo shoot opportunities on a more realistic location, that makes cosplay fantasies come to life. More fun on activites likes cosplay catwalk contest, Cosplay Ballroom, and cosplay-photography workshop.

Bleach Soul Reaper Cosplay Costumes

        It seems that all the Bleach Soul Reaper cosplay costumes are in the same pattern except the Taichous’. Hence, there are mainly two types of Soul Reaper uniforms. One is the common member’s clothing, which is in the form of a black piece, namely the mid-sleeve Kimono with a white waistband. This style is simple but shows a powerful feeling, and is forward enough to meet the taste of the people in modern times. The product launch itself took place on one of prestigious shopping Mall in Jakarta, Senayan City on Friday 15 th July 2011.

The event was fantastic and colorful with cosplay competion and Xperia Show off by all Sony Ericsson Indonesian Manager .

I already had a pretty good idea as to which fabrics I was going to use for this costume, and bought 75% of my fabrics over the weekend. I didn't want the fabrics to look "shiny" so I stuck with more matte-looking fabrics.

I decided on a maroon/burgundy cotton corduroy for the jacket--I was VERY lucky to have found this in the color I wanted, because cotton corduroy is not a very popular fabric... for obvious reasons.... do you know anyone over the age of 6 that owns anything corduroy? My point exactly. So yes, I was very happy I found this in the correct color. I bought 2-1/2 yards--enough for the jacket and half of the skirt, if you follow the illustration as below.

For some reason I envisioned the vest in silk dupioni; perhaps it was the rendering of the fabric below that I decided to go with the texture of dupioni. I bought a slightly darker gold lining to match so there would be more tones to this gold color.

The top layer of the skirt will be made with linen/cotton in a loose plain weave; the skirt needs to look wrinkled and I went with a loose weave because in the rendered image the skirt seems to have this type of texture. I suppose I just wanted the skirt material to look slightly more "rough" and didn't want to go for a "clean/crisp" look. Pretty sure that didn't really make any sense to any of you readers but at least I tried =_=.

The bow at the back is a polyester satin, which will be doubled (probably) because it needs to hold its shape and look stiff.

Luckily I found mustard-colored velvet ribbon in the exact width I wanted (1") also, who knew? I was worried I'd have to dye this too! Too many hours spent in my bathroom dyeing fabric and trims! I do get to watch a lot of anime during my dyeing time though.

For the pink sash and ascot I plan on finding a satin of some sort. I haven't decided if I will be painting the hat or if I will be covering it with fabric yet (will post about it later).

I still have a lot of work ahead of me as I still haven't found a fake fur for some of the trims on this costume, as well as for the Clockwork Bunny. I will need to finish sewing at least 2 components of this costume by this weekend in order to stay on track! Goodbye social life!

Doraemon : Robotic Cat

Most of their episodes are funny dramas with lessons clarifying the importance of values such as courage, bravery, relative's bonding, respect for elders, etc. The series is about a robotic cat named Doraemon, who passages back in time from the 22nd century to aid a schoolboy, Nobita Nobi.

late but lucky, collected memories

So much for my much-desired "break" after Anime Expo (just wanted to bum around at home and finish some games/anime/manga that I put off for the 2 wks prior to AX); I had to start on my next cosplay immediately for an upcoming convention.

I started playing "Alice:Madness Returns" in the middle of June and while I didn't play the first "Alice", I am pretty hooked. Also intrigued by the reinvention of the Alice Liddell character--mental and no-nonsense. That's how I usually like my female heroines (could do with/without the lack of sanity though). Might I also mention that her wardrobe selections in the game changed to match each level's environment, which is damn cool (cool in that the designers bothered to put in the extra effort). For this sequel to "Alice", the player can also download dresses to enhance some of Alice's abilities, and each dress looks like a cosplay waiting to be done...

Which brings me to my first American McGee's Alice cosplay ever--in her "Late But Lucky" dress; this I'm making alongside a plush version of the Clockwork Bunny (if you aren't familiar with the game the C. Bunny is a bomb Alice uses), so I have a lot of work ahead of me...





As with all my cosplays I always start with a sketch :D This one has a lot of components so I had to start patterns very early (started over the weekend). My plan is to finish the first sample (sewn in muslin) before next weekend so it's time to hermit mode again....

Bleach Rukia Kuchiki White and Blue Cosplay Dress

I have discussed the Bleach Rukia Kuchiki cosplay costumes in general in the former post. And here I would like to talk something about the certain piece, namely the Rukia cosplay dress. Speaking of this suit, what would you think of?

Actually, this white and blue Rukia dress without sleeves is peculiar to her and we won’t think of anybody else except Rukia. The blue top with the notched lapel and the rest is sepereted by the red line on the chest, which is different from the common pattern. From the top, it looks like a sport wear, but from the rest part it is really a skirt. The figure of Rukia would come to my mind at the exact moment I see this dress.

Rukia is not so pretty or sexy or in good as some of the female characters of Bleach, however she has a special and her glamour is beyond discription, and it seems than there is something magic about her and I cannot help being mad for her. Cosplay bleach Rukia could bring us much meaning and joyment. This apparel is simple, but just because it belongs to the kind, tough, right-minded and the independent girl, Rukia, and then it has an irresistible charm.
